Monday Oct 05, 2020
If you believe that ghosts come from tortured spirits - you don't have to look hard to find stories of tragedy here in Georgetown.
Canden shares a few of the tragic tales and ghost stories from our Ghosts of Georgetown and Wicked Georgetown tour, from the centuries old and very haunted Old Stone House to a personal haunting at Halcyon House and what happened to the piles of bones outside the Civil War hospitals.
If you want to hear the recording at the Old Stone House yourself, listen here: https://wtop.com/halloween-news/2018/10/haunted-dc-georgetowns-phantoms/

Constitution Day Part II
Thursday Sep 17, 2020
Thursday Sep 17, 2020
“He has studied deeply before coming to this Convention. He has read everything he can read about the past, about the present, what was happening in Ancient Greece, what was happening in Rome, what contemporary European societies are doing at this point. He has looked at it from a philosophical perspective, a theological perspective, a legal perspective and he has put together what he thinks is the best plan going forward...and it's a pretty good one to what we have today. What Madison creates is the blueprint...but he puts in the work."
Tour Guide Tell All digs into one of our "charters of freedom," the founding document that gives birth to our government - the United States Constitution! In honor of Constitution Day, the Rebeccas dig into why and how the document was developed, the key players and compromises, and the legacy it still has today. Join us as we talk civics, politics, and more on this episode.

Two Bombings at Embassy Row
Thursday Sep 10, 2020
Thursday Sep 10, 2020
“The two stories I’m going to tell you, they both involve a bombing and they take place
geographically about a block and a half apart, but that is where their similarities end, the stories
have nothing else in common, they take place 50 years apart with 2 completely different sets of
actors, motivators.”
All about the bombings this week! Tour Guide Tell All brings you two smaller stories with one
big theme: a bombing! Join us as we discuss two unrelated but incredibly interesting bombings
in Washington DC, both with political motivations, and some very surprising results.

Escaped slave turned spy Mary Touvestre risked it all to scuttle Confederate plans to break the Union blockade. Trading petticoats for trousers to work at the Union hospitals, Dr. Mary E. Walker was both the only female Medal of Honor recipient and the possessor of a police record for impersonating a man. During Prohibition, First Lady Florence Harding hosted jazz soirees and served up cocktails in the White House gardens. From pioneering photographers and newspaperwomen to enterprising madams and soldiers in disguise, Canden introduces readers to the decidedly daring and wild women of the capital.

The Life and Legacy of Edwin Stanton
Thursday Sep 03, 2020
Thursday Sep 03, 2020
"Edwin Stanton is best remembered for being Secretary of War under President Lincoln and helping to lead the Union government to victory in the Civil War. I find Stanton fascinating. He has a really interesting life and career, he's a very difficult person to love and yet I love him for all his difficulties. His life story has tragedy, it has sadness, romance, it has a little bit of everything."
Becca stays true to her love of all things Lincoln to bring more depth to someone you may have heard of but don't know much about. Edwin Stanton most famously utters the line "now he belongs the ages" after Lincoln's death, but he should be known for his work in its own right. Learn more about this lawyer turned Secretary of War turned almost Supreme Court justice.

Ratification of the 19th Amendment (Anniversary Special)
Saturday Aug 29, 2020
Saturday Aug 29, 2020
“So, the amendment passes in 1919 and all of the sudden, the women’s groups look around and they think, hey wait a second. 1920 is coming. And 1920 is a presidential election year. So we’ve got a hard deadline we want to get to. We don’t want women to vote for dogcatcher in their local town, we want the big enchilada, we want to be able to vote for President”
Tour Guide Tell All’s Celebration of the Centennial of the ratification of the 19 th Amendment reaches its dramatic conclusion this week as we focus on the final push towards passage. This episode is going to take us to Nashville, TN and introduce us to a whole cast of interesting characters, including a very unlikely hero and a strong willed mother.
We are joined by Special Guest Kaitlin Calogera who helps us break down the drama of that hot August in TN.

6th and I Synagogue (Mini Episode)
Monday Aug 24, 2020
Monday Aug 24, 2020
“The 6th and I building is going to be purchased and occupied by the Turner Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church. In 2002 the Turner Methodist Church is going to move to Hyattsville, MD and offers the building up for sale. At that time, the director of the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington is going to appeal to the DC Jewish Community to save this historic building.”
Our mini episode this week is a listener request! We focus this week on Jewish life in the Nations Capital, from the earliest days to the vibrant community that exists in DC today. In particular we discuss the Historic 6th and I synagogue in downtown Washington DC and its long time connection with the oldest active Jewish congregation in the area. We also discuss the upcoming Capital Jewish Museum, as well as the only congregation in the US to have its own Congressional charter.
